Congress still has not got a clue about immigration

Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.), the sponsor of the DREAM Act, has been quoted as saying when the immigration debate starts up in Congress “the switchboards light up and the hate starts spewing.”

This is ignorance gone to seed.  Congress cannot get it through their thick skulls that American’s do not want amnesty for illegals.  And they certainly do not want perks granted to them that hard working Americans cannot get.  This is not hate.  This is standing up for what is right… to enforce our laws and see that everyone abides by them.  There is nothing hateful about that. Durbin wants to you to think otherwise.

It is very unfortunate that children must suffer because of the acts of their parents.  Sometimes we as parents make mistakes in judgment. Sometimes we are careless or reckless in our behavior and our children become affected by our actions.  And there are many children who must suffer a loss of a parent (normally fathers) for perhaps a very, very long time while in prison because of breaking the law.  It really bothers me to see a child suffer.  But it is something that causes children to have to grow up very fast and face some difficult times.

It is no different for breaking our immigration laws.  Children should not be given preferential treatment simply because their parents decide to break the law.  Period.

What is so hard to understand about that?
