The Webb amendment to allow more home time for the troops before being redeployed was defeated yesterday. While on the one side this amendment would guarantee National Guard or Reserve troops three years at home before being redeployed it was also semi-invasive
on military control of the troops and encroachment by Congress into the President’s role as Commander-In-Chief.
Hopefully this will allow our troops to get the job done in Iraq and Afghanistan so that the majority of them could come (or redeploy to safer areas) a lot sooner.
